About the Event

This is an important one day workshop for families/whanau who have disabled sons or daughters in the education system and for teachers and educators. The workshop will explore how one family successfully created an intentional network of friends (A Bunch of Mates) for their son while he was at school. It will also explore how this network has been leveraged to create real work opportunities as his formal education draws to an end.

This event will be very helpful for those interested in how to support young people who are on the fringes of the education system to become deeply connected through the activation of friendships with typical students. It will be practical, honest and have ample time for open dialogue and questions. It will share the good and the successes as well as the challenges and the learnings. This is a ‘keep it real’ event.
