Disabling barriers to maternity care - call for participants

Imagine Better is working with DPA and 3District Health Board - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB (3DHB) on a project about the maternity experiences of women who have babies born with impairments, and disabled women.

This is an opportunity to contribute towards improving the delivery of maternity services in Wellington, Wairapapa and the Hutt Valley.

We would like to talk to women who have had experience using the 3DHB’s maternity services.  We are looking for women who:

  • Have had babies that were born with impairments (physical, sensory, or intellectual) and found out about their babies' impairment and/or health condition either prenatally or soon after birth;
  • Have used or are planning to use maternity services in Wellington, Hutt Valley or Wairarapa;
  • Are currently pregnant, have recently had their baby, or gave birth to their child within the last 10 years.

Carey-Ann Morrison, Senior Researcher for Imagine Better, will be doing the interviews with mums who have babies born with impairments. If you are interested, please get in touch with her on [email protected] Phone: 027 541 3310.

Angela Desmarais, DPA will be doing the interviews with disabled women. She can be contacted on [email protected] 027 238 5811.
